About the role
UPS is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Feeder Yard Associate to support and review small package dispatch activities. This role is key in maintaining efficient operations by assisting with dispatch planning, coordinating equipment and staffing, and ensuring that service, safety, and cost objectives are met.
This position works closely with the Feeder Operations Supervisor to support yard operations, trailer planning, driver assignments, and regulatory compliance. A portion of each shift will involve physically verifying trailer locations and conditions in the yard. The role also includes administrative duties such as reporting, communications, and invoice handling.
Job Type: Part-Time, Permanent
Work Location: 5960 Ferguson Rd. Richmond, BC V7B 1W7, Canada
Wage: $18.03/hr.
Work Schedule:
- Shift 1: Monday to Friday: 01:00 AM to 06:00 AM
- Shift 2: Wednesday to Saturday: 02:00 AM to 07:00 AM.
- Sunday: 02:00 PM to 07:00 PM.
** Candidates must be able to work 25+ hours per week***
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and assist with trailer movement on and off the UPS yard during operations.
- Coordinate with the Feeder Supervisor to ensure regulatory compliance, including tracking driver hours.
- Support in hazardous materials audits and reviewing safety reports.
- Confirm proper driver uniforms and equipment availability.
- Assist in identifying training needs and supporting performance evaluations.
- Work with drivers to resolve dispatch-related issues and ensure clear communication.
- Maintain and generate standard spreadsheet reports and other documentation.
- Handle incoming calls, radio dispatches, and invoice reception in the dispatch office.
- Physically inspect and verify trailer inventory and yard layout regularly.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other standard reporting tools.
- Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible schedule with availability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
