About the role
Test Data Manager (Large Financial Services Transformation Program)
Role Overview
The Test Data Manager leads the governance, planning, and coordination of test data across a large, complex financial services program. Operating as part of the central Testing Office and reporting to the Test Director, the role ensures that accurate, compliant, and synchronized test data is available to support multiple concurrent testing workstreams, environments, and code branches/releases.
While test data management is centralized, test data creation and preparation are decentralized to domain teams or delivery pods. The Test Data Manager therefore provides governance, coordination, and standards while influencing distributed teams to meet program data needs. The role partners closely with the client’s Test Data Manager to align data provisioning, refresh cycles, and synchronization between client and program environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Refine and operationalize the program test data management strategy across all testing phases (SIT, E2E, UAT, regression, NFRs).
- Establish governance, standards, and processes for test data creation, masking, synchronization, refresh, and provisioning.
- Coordinate test data requirements across multiple testing workstreams, environments, and concurrent code branches/releases.
- Work closely with the client Test Data Manager to align on data sourcing, refresh schedules, synchronization, and data readiness.
- Ensure test data availability and integrity across environments (e.g., Dev, SIT, E2E, UAT, NFR).
- Manage test data refresh cycles, environment resets, and versioning to support parallel testing activities.
- Maintain a central inventory and visibility of test data sets, including ownership, dependencies, and usage across domains.
- Provide guidance and coordination to domain/pod teams responsible for creating and preparing test data.
- Resolve test data availability issues and defects that may impact testing timelines.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, masking, and regulatory requirements for sensitive financial data.
- Provide test data readiness reporting and risk visibility to the Test Director and program leadership.
- Facilitate coordination across testing teams, environment management, data engineering, and client stakeholders.
Key Skills / Experience
- Experience managing test data in large-scale financial services programs.
- Strong understanding of test environments, data masking, and data provisioning approaches.
- Proven ability to influence distributed teams.
- Strong stakeholder management across multiple domains, pods, and client counterparts.
