About the role
Your Opportunity:
This Social Worker II position provides a unique opportunity to work to your full scope of practice. The position requires the ability to work in a fast paced setting as part of a Social Work team and multidisciplinary teams at Red Deer Regional Hospital on the Women’s and Children’s Unit with diverse populations. You will be required to prioritize workload, formulate assessments, create intervention plans, make referrals for ongoing treatment and/or discharge planning. This position will provide support to patients and families in the ICU, medicine unit and maternity and pediatric units. Experience in grief and loss is an asset. The position requires knowledge of relevant legislation including the Personal Directives Act, the Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act and the Child and Youth Family Enhancement Act. Knowledge of community resources and financial supports is required. Effective time management and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. The Social Worker will have the ability to develop collaborative partnerships with community service providers in order to facilitate stable discharges.

Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
