Summary of responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging Services: the sonographer will perform Echocardiograms exams with and without contrast; maintain and document high quality images; and practice good patient care. The incumbent will be responsible for various technical aspects in the operation, ensuring all equipment is working optimally and meets safety standards, they will help assist the department in meeting Accreditation Canada standards and that it operates at a level equal to that of its counter parts, The successful candidate may at the discretion of the manager, be asked to assist with triaging of requisitions following department protocols, and maintain inventory

Requirements of the job

Required:

  • Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologist of Ontario

  • Current certification in Echocardiography

  • I.V. Certification and experience administering contrast media

  • Excellent computer skills and good working knowledge of HIS, RIS, PACS, and ISCV

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills, critical thinking, problem solving, decision making and organizational skills

  • Must be able to muti-task in fast paced environment

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well with multiple interruptions

  • Strengths to include working well with all levels of internal management, staff and physicians

  • Scheduling experience to include prioritizing and triaging of requests

  • Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team environment

  • Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality

  • Must meet physical demands of position including lifting 60 lbs. And withstanding constant standing and/or walking

  • Current certification in BCLS

  • Demonstrates regular/punctual attendance

  • Demonstrates commitment to patient safety

  • Functional level in both official languages (oral & written in English; oral in French)

Preferred:

  • Current registration with Sonography Canada
