The Vancouver Airport Authority has an opportunity for up to two Engineering Co-op Students in the Engineering Projects Department. The successful candidates will be working as part of project teams, planning and administering construction projects on behalf of the Airport Authority.
Projects/teams with two (2) roles for co-op students starting in January 2026:
- Airport terminal building general renovation projects, incl. Baggage handling system upgrade projects (8months)
- Airside (Civil) projects (8months)
Interested candidates are to specify which role(s) they are applying for.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Assisting Project Managers with project coordination and contract administration
- Collaborating with external Project Architects, Engineers as well as Contractors and multiple internal stakeholders.
- Reviewing engineering drawings, learning about design standards and codes, YVR design guidelines and project delivery process (from drawing to physical)
- Undertaking site inspections and recording findings
- Meeting and coordinating with various stakeholders, including contractors, design professionals, airport operations & maintenance staff, etc.
- Managing micro-projects from initiation through to project close out
Key qualifications:
The individual will have the following:
- Student in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Integrated Engineering program
- Education and/or experience relevant to the specific roles identified above
- Ability to multitask and manage deadlines
- Ability to learn quickly in order to read and understand construction drawings
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written)
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work evenings/nights when required due to construction schedules
- Note that the successful candidates must be able to qualify for a Restricted Area Identity Card and a Transportation Security Clearance; as such, you must be able to provide a place of residence in Canada (if in Canada for less than 5 years, former addresses will be required) and have a clean criminal record.
- French is an asset.

Hours of Work: 37.5 hour week
Dress Code: Westcoast Business Casual

Salary Range : $24.08/hr + Living Wage top up to $27.05/hr
