Powerex Corp., the wholly owned energy trading subsidiary of BC Hydro, has a full-time permanent opportunity for a Director of Finance to join our executive leadership team.
This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer of Powerex and works strategically with the Powerex Board of Directors, Executive, and management teams, and management in Finance at BC Hydro. As a key member of Powerex’s Executive team, the Director, Finance also supports the Powerex Audit and Risk Management Committee. They will build people capacity throughout Powerex’s Finance team and support the achievement of our purpose and long-term goals by leading through our values. They will play a key role in analysis and evaluation as it relates to existing and potential business opportunities. Expert and seasoned financial advice and direction to all key stakeholders will be fundamental to the role.
This role, in concert with the Finance Management team, will be responsible for all aspects of financial activities including external and internal financial reporting and analysis, trade settlement, budgets and forecasting, including cash flow management, compliance reporting, treasury, accounts payable, and tax planning and compliance. The Director, Finance will also manage Powerex’s relationship with its external auditors and tax advisors to support audits and provide insights into the drivers of profitability for the business.
The candidate will manage and develop a team of finance professionals, drive system and process improvements, and develop cross-functional relationships across the business to ensure finance is a strategic partner.
The ideal candidate will bring senior level financial experience in an environment with parallels to Powerex, such as a commodity trading or energy company. Qualified candidates must have a professional financial designation, plus a minimum of 10 years of demonstrated, senior financial, leadership and general management experience. Knowledge of the U.S. GAAP and U.S. tax principles are an asset.

LOCATION
Powerex is in downtown Vancouver on major transit routes (near both Skytrain and Seabus).
COMPENSATION
The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $190,000 - $250,000/annum, plus an annual incentive pay award of 0-10% of base. Powerex also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off and a defined benefit pension plan.
The salary offered will take into consideration a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the individual’s skill, experience, education and training, market compensation of the role, and consideration of internal equity.
