About the Calgary Stampede

Position Summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for providing semi-skilled heavy manual labour involving the use of hand and/or common labouring tools and operating mid-sized and specialized motorized operating equipment.
Responsibilities
This role requires semi-skilled heavy manual labour work, which includes, but is not limited to:
- Adhering to all safety and environmental protection programs, policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
- Operating motorized equipment including, dump truck, scissor lift, forklift, skid steer, and mid-size commercial/farm tractors (up to 70HP).
- Completing daily logs as directed, which may include vehicle inspections, vehicle sign outs, fuel logs and vehicle maintenance action sheets.
- Performing heavy manual labour assignments ranging from: assisting with the setup for high profile events, digging trenches, moving furniture, setting up construction fences, hauling boxes, pulling garbage, pulling weeds, cutting lawns.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have worked in a dynamic environment where they have experience delivering on multiple priorities and will hold the following qualifications:
- Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license (non-GDL), with a minimum of one (1) year driving experience required
- Minimum of two (2) years forklift operating experience and/or relative equipment experience
- Aptitude to perform heavy lifting and manual labour
- Exceptional customer service, communication and time management skills
- WHMIS Certification
- Must have CSA approved steel toe work boots
Physical Demands
- Frequent lifting upwards of 50 lbs with occasional lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Pushing, pulling, crouching, bending, and reaching frequently.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, gas, odors’, animal dander, bedding waste and variability of seasonal climate.
- Physical and visual acuity is required.
