The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement, IT Division, is responsible delivering IT services for all of the Government related to IT Infrastructure, application support, data management and reporting, IT project delivery, and IT enterprise and strategic planning.

The Architecture and Planning Branch has a challenging opportunity for a results-oriented professional with proven technical skills and experience to support the maintenance of technical standards, technology planning, and the implementation of various IT solutions within the Government’s IT environment.

Reporting to the Manager, Architecture, the Technical Business Analyst is responsible for:

  • Assisting and supporting the Architecture team in solution design, technology planning, and standards development
  • Supporting the technical governance boards providing design documentation reviews and conducting process audits
  • Performing detailed analysis and reporting on technology and application assets
  • Researching solution options and reporting on technology trends
  • Coordinating reviews and approvals of technical policies and standards

You will have knowledge of:

  • Emerging and current Information Technology trends, including Cloud Computing.
  • Information Technology applications & computing platforms, including desktop & server hardware & software, network technologies, operating systems, and storage technologies.
  • Best practice framework approaches intended to facilitate the delivery of high quality information technology.
  • Information Technology frameworks and methodologies, including Business Analysis, Process Mapping, Project Management, IT Service Management, and Enterprise Architecture.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position are obtained through a degree in Computer Science, supplemented with several years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

You will have the ability to:

  • Explain and present technical information to a wide variety of technical and non-technical people in a clear, accurate and understandable manner; and actively listen, paraphrase and ask precise questions in order to clarify and understand information being received;
  • Train, assign work and coach a diverse group of employees that result in a team that can meet its goals and objectives, while maintaining a healthy, productive, respectful and safe work environment that is free from discrimination; (diversity/leadership)
  • Independently assess, establish, assign and/or adjust your own and other’s workloads taking into consideration changing priorities, tight deadlines, multiple reporting relationships and constant interruptions;
  • Compile, evaluate and organize relevant information to produce in-depth documents or reports and make recommendations and/or decisions;
  • Identify, explore and evaluate options on data, processes and methodologies, information technology and potential process design to make feasible recommendations; and (analytical)
  • Influence, persuade or convince others in order to reach mutually acceptable or workable solutions/agreements. (interpersonal)
