Job Description

As a part of our continued growth, AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly motivated Project Engineer to join the North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant project team based in North Vancouver. The successful candidate will work on the NSWWTP project through the construction phase and then transition to the AECOM Burnaby office in the future, working in the water/wastewater infrastructure group.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work successfully within a team environment and communicate effectively with other project team members, client and contractors.
  • Review and interpretation of technical specifications and drawings.
  • Track and manage technical team responses to Contractor RFIs and Submittal.
  • Mark up and track contract drawings and specifications in the Engineer's electronic plan room.
  • Regular review of contractor as-built drawing for general conformance.
  • Support field engineering design activities, working with the engineer of record and the contractor to provide engineering solutions during construction.
  • Review engineering work plans including assessment of budget and schedule requirements.
  • Use computer software as a tool for project management, engineering reviews and contract administration support.
  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignment are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
  • Actively engage in professional development and industry events

Additional tasks may include:

  • Conduct field reviews on an active construction site, reviewing work by multiple disciplines.

  • Complete quantifications and progress tracking for cost estimating.

  • Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.

  • Prepare technical reports and analysis to support project needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4+ years experience in an interdisciplinary engineering design or construction, or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical or Chemical or Process)
  • Eligibility for P.Eng registration in the province of BC.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in Contract Administration for multi-disciplinary construction projects.

  • Experience in design and/or construction of municipal water or wastewater projects in Canada.

  • Demonstrated communication skills through publications, presentations, and work

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills

  • Knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include BIM360, Revit, Plant3D, Revizto, AutoCAD, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models, Bluebeam, SharePoint)

  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Proficient using common software packages (Excel, Word, MS Project, PowerPoint)

  • Possess the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines across multiple projects

  • Experience with project management concepts, principles, and duties
