About the job
In this rewarding role, you will:
- provide supervisory, technical, consulting and administrative services associated with highway pavements, low complexity foundations and rockfall hazard management
- support the programming, planning, design, construction and maintenance of highway facilities
What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements

You currently have accreditation as a Professional Engineer in a Canadian Province or Territory, and you will obtain a Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) license as a condition of accepting this position.

The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid G licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that they have a valid driver's licence upon being hired.
Technical knowledge
You have knowledge of:
- theory, principles and practices of civil engineering
- geotechnical engineering related to pavement design and management
- highway construction practices, highway planning and design, foundation design and highway maintenance
- consultant acquisition and administration in order to prepare terms of reference, recommend acceptance/rejection of Expression of Interest (EOI) requests, evaluate Request for Proposals (RFP) and Request for Quotations (RFQ) submissions, prepare purchase order requests, provide input to negotiations and fee disputes, review and critique deliverables, provide advice to consultants/service providers, and prepare consultant performance appraisals
Analytical and leadership skills
- You demonstrate analytical and decision making skills to research and analyze complex problems and make difficult and timely decisions
- You have supervisory skills to plan, schedule, direct and monitor the activities of technical staff
Communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
- You have communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills:
- to consult with engineers, contractors, public and government attorneys
- to establish effective relationships with colleagues, associates, senior officials and service providers
- to negotiate fees with consultants and contractors for retainer assignments, additional work for capital projects and to recommend payments
- to prepare technical reports, business cases, briefing materials, memos
