The digital communications advisor is responsible for recommending, creating and implementing social media strategies and digital marketing campaigns , including monitoring, administering and creating content for the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority’s social media channels in both English and French, with a goal to build awareness and support for the long-term objectives of the port authority.

What You Do

Plan and execute digital elements of marketing campaigns aligned with strategic direction of the department Working with external agencies, develop recommendations for marketing campaigns and oversee media buy and advertising production and execution Manage the roll-out to diverse audiences of pro-active communications campaigns as assigned Develop, advise on, and implement digital communications strategy and tactics based on communications and digital marketing objectives Provide quick response support to develop digital media assets Provide tracking and reporting for all digital marketing initiatives Oversee agency work on digital marketing campaigns as needed Maintain editorial vision, create and source content for social media publishing Lead daily operation and programming of Vancouver Fraser Port Authority social media accounts in English and French Create content, provide recommendations, and create and implement the communications strategies for social media platforms for Executive Leadership Team members Develop and recommend social and digital strategies and appropriate platforms to meet communications goals, including for project communications Create general marketing and communications content, and oversee creation of content by agencies as needed Create and source content for social media and publishing As required. administer mobile apps, maintaining and updating content in a timely fashion, Produce graphic design materials, videos and other assets as required Monitor and identify issues on social media Recommend social media and digital strategies for issues management and other communications goals Develop strategic responses and proactive messaging for social media channels Provide support for the organization’s adherence to Official Languages Act requirements by creating guideline and process documents, providing translation support, etc Support events, on site experiences, marketing, communications and public affairs as required Create and maintain key industry relationships Act as coverage and backup for team members as required Perform other assigned duties as required

What You Bring

Completion of a university degree in communications or marketing, or another acceptable discipline, along with a minimum of four years’ combined experience in developing and implementing communications and digital marketing campaigns, social media, website development, maintenance and content. The successful candidate must be bilingual in English and French, both verbal and written. Must have demonstrated experience in strategic graphic design, content production and digital media, a strong understanding of website and graphic design principles and experience working with Microsoft office suite of tools, Photoshop and digital media tools. Experience in media relations is an asset. Must be bilingual in English and French, both oral and written, with strong communication skills. Must be a self-motivated and creative individual who demonstrates initiative. Must be a strategic thinker able to effectively understand potential issues and communications goals, and recommend strategies to prevent issues or achieve goals. Must be able to interact effectively and positively with internal and external stakeholders with diplomacy and tact. Must have strong strategic communication skills, written and oral, along with good organizational skills and the flexibility to perform multiple tasks as required. Must be a team player with a customer service focus, flexibility to perform multiple tasks, and ability to meet deadlines.

Job type: Bargaining Unit, Full-Time, Temporary, Hybrid

Working environment: Normal working conditions. Some weekend and occasional evening work. Some off-site visits where the use of personal protective equipment may be required.
