Overview of the Role The Manager, Distribution & Transportation, will report directly to the VP, Warehouse & Distribution. The incumbent will be responsible for national strategic efficiency projects for the Supply Chain network. How you will make contributions that matter: People Management & Labour Relations: Using positive employee relations and effective communication skills, manage the performance of the Distribution Team and all key stakeholders to meet regional objectives aligned with Saputo’s core values. Build and foster positive relationships with Long Haul Operators and Route Distributor Operators (RDO). Including participating in the negotiation of contracts with our RDOs. Develops and fosters strong and effective functional and cross-functional teams. Financial Management: Establish annual business plans, metrics and budget, while focusing on efficiency and reducing operating costs in our distribution network. Work with cross functional partners to optimize distribution initiatives with the goal of cost reduction and improving service levels. With a continuous improvement focus, develop, lead, and execute best practice initiatives and projects directed at optimizing the Supply Chain network. Key focus will be on improving efficiencies with the Direct Store Delivery, Long Haul Operator and/or Route Distributor Operator network. Apply working knowledge of distribution related technology and software, to drive and implement best practice. Health and Safety and Food Safety: Leadership, evaluation, motivation and training of personnel to ensure work is completed efficiently, effectively and safely. Ensures that safe conditions always exist within the work environment; takes appropriate and effective measures to provide for the health and safety of employees. Perform other duties as required. You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualification: Minimum 8 -10 years experience as a Distribution & Transportation Manager or Director in a high-volume environment, preferably in a Food/Packaged Goods Company in a multi-channel distribution environment. Working knowledge pertaining to Transport, Direct Store Delivery, Long Haul Operations and Route Distributor Owner operations. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain, Logistics or in a relevant field. Experience with an SAP environment. Proven experience in leading a team, with sound communication and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving skills and proven ability to gather and analyze data and work with financials. Proficient in MS-Word, Excel and Power point. Background in continuous improvement such as Six Sigma. Performance metrics is an asset. Flexible scheduled and availability to travel & support any Saputo location as required.
