About the Role
Our client, a leading automotive manufacturing supplier, is seeking a Systems & Network Administrator to manage and support IT operations across corporate and plant sites. This senior role reports to the Corporate IT Manager and serves as a Tier 3 escalation point, providing technical leadership in network, server, virtualization, cybersecurity, and IT/OT systems.
The role combines hands-on system administration, infrastructure design, and project delivery with proactive support to ensure operational continuity and system reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead IT projects, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and quality standards are met
- Support IT/OT communication paths, PLC interfaces, and MES integration logic
- Monitor and administer virtual servers, SANs, and network equipment
- Backup, restore, and maintain critical data and systems
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
- Develop, implement, and maintain IT standards, best practices, and documentation
- Plan and oversee software upgrades, capacity, and performance for production platforms
- Monitor enterprise security, including SIEM/EDR tools, and recommend improvements
- Configure and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP
- Support virtualization environments (VMWare vSphere/vCenter) and cloud services (Azure/AWS)
- Assist with on-prem to cloud migrations and IT infrastructure optimization
- Collaborate with Service Desk, ERP, programming, and operations teams to align technology needs
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology (IT) or related field
- 5–10 years of experience as a Systems and Network Administrator or equivalent
- Strong understanding of Windows Server roles and services, network protocols, and best practices
- Experience with VMWare, Cisco Catalyst switches, Wi-Fi mesh networks (Meraki), and VOIP systems
- Experience with SharePoint and MS SQL databases is an asset
- Familiarity with ITIL, SRE principles, incident and change management
- Strong communication skills; able to convey complex issues to technical and non-technical audiences
- Analytical, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities
Assets (Nice-to-Have)
- Certification in MCSA or equivalent
- Manufacturing or automotive industry experience
- Cloud experience with Azure/AWS
- Scripting experience: PowerShell, Bash, Python
Working Conditions
- Some travel may be required between corporate and plant locations in Ontario and Michigan Must have a Canadian Passport
