HEABC leads and supports the strategic planning related to human resources and labour relations on behalf of British Columbia’s publicly funded health employers. HEABC is responsible for negotiating provincial agreements for 138,000 unionized health care employees including nurses, physician residents, ambulance paramedics, health science professionals, and more.
HEABC’s Human Resources, Strategies & Services department has expanded its role to deliver and lead a wide range of provincial recruitment initiatives for key Health Human Resource priorities throughout the province. OPPORTUNITY:
HEABC has an opening for a Recruitment Consultant in the Health Match BC, Physician Recruitment team. Reporting to the Senior Recruitment Consultants, Physicians, the Recruitment Consultant, Physicians, plays an integral role in the sourcing and recruitment of physicians, and provides expertise and advice on medical registration, licensure, and immigration policy.
The Recruitment Consultant supports candidates throughout the recruitment process and works directly with our health authority partners to find the most appropriate talent. The role screens candidates for licensure, supports and tracks candidates throughout the screening, referral, and selection process, and prepares all related documentation and correspondence required for the candidate journey.
The successful candidate will be a strong communicator with a demonstrated ability to think critically, solve complex problems, keep diligent records, and collect and report statistical data. The ideal candidate will have direct experience working in physician recruitment.
Extensive travel may be required, nationally and internationally.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- University degree, preferable related to Human Resources, Business Administration, or Social Services or another relevant degree
- Five (5) to seven (7) years recent related experience in the healthcare sector providing expertise in recruitment, HR strategies, analysis and problem solving, immigration expertise or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated customer service skills, along with the ability to provide strategic consultative advice, problem solve and facilitate resolutions within unclear guidelines and established frameworks.
- Ability to research and present issues, effectively prioritize work, make formal presentations, communicate verbally and in writing.
- High degree of proficiency with computers & MS Office software, including MS Teams.
This position is well-suited to an individual interested in pursuing a career in an interesting segment of the public sector, and who values the opportunity to make a positive public contribution through their work.
Salary Range: $74,618 to $97,937
Typical Hiring Range: $74,618 to $93,273
In determining salary, HEABC considers many factors including the successful candidate’s skillset and experience as well as internal equity. The final salary offer will be at HEABC’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.

The Health Employers Association of British Columbia (HEABC) coordinates the human resource and labour relations interests of more than 218 publicly funded health care employers in BC. HEABC represents denominational, proprietary and affiliate health employers, as well as the province’s six health authorities.
