About the role
Our client is seeking a Director of Finance & Memberships for a 6-month contract to play a key role in the organization’s financial management. In this role, the Director will oversee both the finance and membership functions, with the finance manager and membership manager reporting directly to them. The Director leads day-to-day financial operations, budgeting, reporting, and analysis to support strategic decision-making, while also designing and managing the annual membership recruitment and renewal program. By combining financial oversight with data-driven membership insights, this role ensures informed, member-focused decisions. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and adaptable, with strong multitasking skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines. Success requires a collaborative, down-to-earth leader who builds strong relationships, embraces new challenges, and contributes to a supportive team culture. Reporting to the CFO, the main responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage the membership and finance teams, including planning, coaching, and evaluating performance
- Maintain and analyze member data to support programs, recruitment, and executive decision-making
- Track and report on trends, performance, and departmental activities
- Prepare and oversee budgets, financial statements, and projections across departments and divisions
- Manage monthly financial processes, reconciliations, journal entries, and investment accounts
- Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors
- Recommend improvements to financial and membership systems, processes, and controls
- Ensure accurate reporting for taxes (HST/QST) and other regulatory requirements
- Perform other duties as needed to support the organization’s operations and strategic goals

Qualifications
The main qualifications for this role include:
- Formal accounting education
- CPA designation
- 5+ years of experience in the full cycle of accounting, including month-end and year-end and analysis
- Advanced Excel skills
- Supervisory experience
- NFP experience is an asset
- Experience with Sage 300 is an asset
How You Will Be Rewarded:
- $85,000 - $110,000 annual salary range
- 4 weeks’ vacation + 2-week Christmas closure + 10 sick days (Prorated)
- Remote work environment
