About the role

Foran Mining Corporation (TSX: FOM), a modern mining company that wants to change what mining means to people. We are currently seeking experienced individuals for our Miner 2 – Production Blaster position to join our expanding McIlvenna Bay team. This is a full-time position based at the McIlvenna Bay site, in Northern Saskatchewan working at our camp on a rotational basis.

As part of the Production team underground, the Miner 2 will be responsible for planning, preparing, and executing blasting activities in underground mining operations. This includes ensuring the safe handling and use of explosives, as well as coordinating blasting schedules with other mine personnel. The goal is to optimize the extraction of minerals while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and environmental regulations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Follow strict safety and environmental regulations for handling, storing, and using explosives.
  • Plan and design blasts with mine engineers to optimize ore recovery and minimize waste.
  • Safely handle, transport, and store explosives per regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain an inventory of explosives and related materials.
  • Oversee or assist with drilling, charging, and blast initiation.
  • Ensure drilling and charging equipment is properly maintained.
  • Set up and initiate blasts using appropriate systems.
  • Monitor blasts and address issues promptly.
  • Conduct safety inspections of equipment and work areas.
  • Maintain accurate records of blasting activities.
  • Report tasks and progress to supervisors.
  • Communicate with mine management, engineers, and team members.
  • Implement measures to minimize environmental impact.

Job Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in an Underground Mine Environment.
  • Ability to obtain a Blasting certification or license, in accordance with local and national regulations.
  • Several years of experience in underground mining, with a strong background in blasting operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of explosive handling, storage, and safety procedures.
  • Familiarity with geological and mining considerations related to blasting.
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in underground mining environments.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Competitive Hourly Rate: $51.01-$73.22/hr including monthly bonus based on targets.
