Union - CUPE Local 402 - Temporary Grant
Scope
The City of Surrey's Parks, Recreation and Culture Department provides a fun, active, and energetic work environment and is looking for enthusiastic Junior Leaders to help lead summer day camps at Historic Stewart Farm.
Responsibilities
Lead heritage summer day camps to children, age 6-12.
Prepare and lead hands-on heritage activities.
Perform heritage demonstrations.
Assist with researching crafts, activities, and demonstrations.
Interpret local history.
Lead guided tours of the site, when needed.
Oversee crafts and activities for events, when needed.
Qualifications
Completion of Grade 10 supplemented by some relevant experience, or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience is required.
Current Emergency First Aid and CPR certificates (or willing to obtain prior to start).
Previous experience working with children and the public and delivering programs to preschool and child audiences.
Experience in a heritage facility setting is an asset.
Enrollment in Museum Studies, History, Anthropology, Archaeology, or Education is considered an asset.
These positions are supported by the Canada Summer Jobs Program. These positions are contingent on Federal Government Grant funding. Successful candidates must meet the criteria set forth by the Grant Program, including:
Between 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
Must be current (January-April 2026) full-time student in a recognized post-secondary program.
Planning to return to full-time studies in the Fall of 2026.
