About the role
STRONGSTART OUTREACH COORDINATOR ONE POSITION FOR PORT RENFREW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
FOUR HOURS PER DAY, TWO DAYS PER MONTH.
Terms Of Employment Ten months. Four hours per week but work is required only when school is in session.
Knowledge And Experience
- Completion of Grade 12 and Diploma in Early Childhood Education, including valid B.C. Certificate to Practice
- Child Safe First Aid Certificate
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of parents, caregivers, children, volunteers, professionals and community members
- Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, community resources and early learning
- Candidates will have experience in a variety of Early Childhood Education settings, including working with Indigenous families
- Experience in creating, planning, implementing and budgeting for an early learning program
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of the socio-economic characteristics of the local community

Responsibilities Performance responsibilities:
- Ensure that the programs and activities are developed and maintained in response to provincial guidelines, such as the Early Learning Framework
- Create a family-friendly, equal access environment that provides safety and security for children
- Maintain attendance records
- Attend meetings that pertain to StrongStart, as required
- Work closely with and understand the requirements of the school personnel, the school district and Ministry of Education policy and procedures
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with community partners
- Promote the StrongStart Program, as required
- Promote awareness of quality early learning and child care services
- Make supply and budget recommendations, as necessary.
Service Delivery
- Plan and facilitate the delivery of the program (once per week)
- Set up and take down equipment as needed
- Provide current early learning information to participants
- Promote, support and facilitate caregiver/child relationships while building on existing strengths
- Respond to parent, caregiver, family and community requests for information and resources
- Make referrals to community services, as needed
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters relating to children and caregivers except where the law requires disclosure
- Encourage caregivers to volunteer and participate within the program
- Encourage learning through play
- Support transition to Kindergarten as a part of the school community.

RATE OF PAY AS PER THE COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT.
