About the role
General Accountability and Purpose
This position is responsible for working with credit union members to create simple needs analysis reports as well as comprehensive financial plans based on individual financial needs and goals and to provide retirement planning, investment counseling, estate planning, and disability insurance services. In addition this position is responsible for maintaining client files, conducting seminars on wealth management, administering a budget, and promoting the services of the credit union and Aviso Wealth Inc. (“AWI”) in the community.
II. Responsibilities
1.Conducts personal interviews with members, identifies individual member needs and goals, develops an appropriate financial plan, and makes appropriate recommendations.
2.Provides members with retirement planning, investment counseling (investment funds, stocks, bonds), estate planning, and life and disability insurance services.
3.Sales critical illness insurance and long term care benefits and provides service in this area.
4.Creates and maintains client files, and reports on activities to Credit Union Wealth Manager and/or Aviso Sales Development Manager.
5.Conducts client seminars on wealth management and attends Trade Shows as required.
6.Administers assigned budget; ensures budget is not exceeded and expenditures are effectively managed.
7.Promotes their credit union’s investment and insurance services through the AVI program in the community.
8.Provides support where possible to Credit Union staff on wealth management products.
9.Develops business plans.
III. Nature and Purpose of Contacts and Relationships
1.Internal: Credit Union management and staff, AVI staff (Reps & Coordinators), Aviso staff, including Regional Vice President.
2.External: Credit Union members, Community members, and professional contacts in the industry.
IV. Qualifications
1.Qualifications required include:
•High School Diploma
•Level II Life License
•Mutual fund (IFIC) and/or Securities (CSC) Licensing
•Financial Planning Designation (i.e. CFP, CLU, Ch.F.C., CIM)
The incumbent requires a minimum of 2 years of industry experience as a financial planner. Completion of the IFIC or CSC courses would be considered a definite asset.
The incumbent must keep informed with regard to the latest trends in financial markets, industry competitors, current issues and strategies.
Demonstrated skills include, the ability to develop cooperative relationships along with strong sales and presentation skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and strong organizational skills. The incumbent must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
