Applications Architect - Senior (RQ10469) Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement | 222 Jarvis Street, Toronto, Ontario (Onsite)
Contract: April 1, 2026 – March 31, 2027 (252 business days, probable extension)
About The Role We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Applications Architect with 10+ years designing enterprise solutions to lead technology architecture for digital data gateway, digital credentials, and API-based integration services requiring CRJMC clearance. Our ideal candidate excels at microservices design across on-prem RedHat OpenShift and Azure Cloud, RESTful API development, DevOps processes (Jenkins, IBM UrbanCode), and production support including Root Cause Analysis for containerized platforms. They will develop multi-year technology roadmaps, evaluate COTS/open-source solutions, and provide executive-level recommendations for digital standards adoption.
This onsite leadership role requires hands-on Java/Spring Boot/NodeJS development, SQL/Oracle 19C expertise, and global team management using Agile methodologies across complex, multi-disciplinary environments with diverse stakeholders from technical engineers to policy analysts.
What You'll Do
Design and lead digital data gateway and credentials platform architecture across hybrid cloud environments.
Must Haves
- 10+ years designing/developing enterprise solutions (public/private sectors).
- Microservices expertise: On-prem + Azure Cloud (RedHat OpenShift).
- DevOps: Jenkins, IBM UrbanCode build/deploy processes.
- Production support: API solutions in containers, RCA reports, post-mortems.
- RESTful APIs development + legacy SOAP knowledge.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technology architecture for digital data gateway/credentials products.
- Design/maintain complex API-based solutions (on-prem/cloud).
- Develop implementation roadmaps, tactical/strategic options analysis.
- Evaluate COTS/open-source solutions; provide recommendations.
- Lead proofs of concept, pilots, final implementations.
- Provide executive technology advice, briefing materials.
Experience And Skill Set Requirements Technical (50%)
- Technology leadership: Multi-year API digital gateway roadmaps.
- 10+ years enterprise solutions across public/private sectors.
- Microservices: On-prem RedHat OpenShift + Azure Cloud.
- SQL/Oracle 19C programming.
- DevOps: Jenkins, IBM UrbanCode.
- REST APIs + SOAP; Java Spring Boot, NodeJS development.
- Lead design artifacts: solution requirements, architecture docs.
- Global Agile team management, collaboration platforms.
Analysis (20%)
- COTS/open-source product evaluation/recommendations.
- Emerging technologies, standards/frameworks.
- Production support/RCA/post-mortems for containerized APIs.
Leadership (20%)
- Organize/prioritize tasks for self/teams in Agile environments.
- Mentor diverse staff; establish collaborative work environments.
Communications (10%)
- Technical documentation, evaluation/comparison reports.
- Executive presentations on architecture/solution components.
General Skills: Middleware/API gateways, Git, Docker/Kubernetes, database technologies, ITIL processes, AODA compliance.
Position Details
- Location: 222 Jarvis Street, Toronto, Ontario (5 days onsite)
- Hours: 7.25 hours per day
- Security Clearance: CRJMC
- Start Date: April 1, 2026
- End Date: March 31, 2027 (probable extension)
