Project Manager - POS Implementation

This role is hybrid and will be required in-office approximately 2-3 days per week during the project implementation. This is a 12 month contract role.
The Project Manager will lead the end-to-end implementation of a new Point-of-Sale (POS) system across multiple business units. This includes managing internal and external resources, schedules, budgets, and ensuring alignment with business goals. The role requires strong coordination with retail operations, IT infrastructure, and vendor partners to ensure a successful rollout.
This teammate will be responsible for:
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and vendor deliverables specific to the new POS system.
- Manage vendor relationships, including contract negotiation, integration planning, and performance tracking.
- Ensure compliance with data security, PCI standards, and internal IT governance.
- Provide regular project progress and budget updates to executive leadership.
- Lead cross-functional teams through the full POS implementation lifecycle—from requirements gathering to deployment and post-launch support.
- Coordinate with retail operations to ensure business readiness and minimal disruption during transition to the new POS.
- Work with infrastructure teams to ensure site readiness, connectivity, and device provisioning across multiple locations.
- Oversee integration of POS with ERP, CRM, and other third-party systems.
- Define reporting requirements and implement dashboards for performance tracking.
- Oversee data migration, hardware deployment, and software configuration.
- Develop and execute testing strategies (UAT, SIT, regression) and manage defect resolution.
- Drive go/no-go decisions based on test outcomes and readiness criteria.
- Coordinate training and change management initiatives for store-level staff and support teams.
- Oversee day-to-day progress, ensuring on-time, high-quality completion.
- Manage project milestones, risks, and issues while working collaboratively with the project team to ensure timely resolution
- Continuously monitor and manage project budget, ensuring alignment with scope
We are looking for a teammate with:
- 5+ years experience in retail/POS project management
- Skilled in translating business requirements into technical specifications for development teams and integration partners.
- Experience overseeing middleware and API-based integration projects, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
- Proven success in planning and managing large-scale hardware rollouts, including POS terminals, peripherals, and network upgrades.
- Experience managing logistics and timelines for multi-site deployments.
- Experience managing risk assessments and security reviews during implementation phases.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations and ability to ensure compliance through project governance.
- Understanding of retail workflows including promotions, returns, inventory sync, and loyalty programs.
- Strong vendor management and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills across technical and business audiences
- PMP certification preferred
