About the role
The Senior Associate in our Private Enterprise group works with privately held and entrepreneurial businesses to deliver high-quality accounting, assurance, tax, and advisory services. This role is ideal for a CPA (or CPA candidate) who has developed strong technical skills, is comfortable managing portions of engagements, and is ready to take on greater responsibility for client service and junior staff supervision within a public practice firm.
Key Responsibilities· Perform detailed work on review, compilation, and tax engagements for private enterprise clients.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with ASPE and firm standards.
- Draft corporate tax returns and supporting schedules.
- Assist in identifying issues and developing practical solutions for clients.
- Act as a day-to-day contact for clients on assigned files, responding to questions in a timely, professional manner.
- Build strong working relationships with client management teams.
- Proactively communicate progress and issues to Managers and Partners.
- Stay current with Canadian accounting and tax standards relevant to private enterprises.
- Contribute to the preparation and review of working papers and documentation for compliance and quality.
- Support Managers and Partners in research and technical analysis as required.
- Supervise and coach junior team members on engagements.
- Provide feedback and support to promote professional growth within the team.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and high-performance work environment.
Qualifications· CPA designation (or in the final stages of the program) with 3–4 years of experience in public practice.
- Solid knowledge of ASPE and corporate taxation.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Effective time management and ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-service mindset.
- Demonstrated initiative and interest in progressing toward a management role.
