THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Controller, Development & Construction, this position is responsible for full cycle accounting. The day-to-day tasks would include, but are not limited to:
-
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries and reconciliations of projects under development and in construction
-
Assist in financial statement preparation, analysis and reports
-
Conduct bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data
-
Assist with budget preparation process and updating monthly forecasts and prepare variance analysis
-
Participate in identifying and preventing discrepancies, and ensuring integrity of the GL
-
File all returns (GST, etc.) on a timely basis.

Process period end, including journal entries and bank reconciliations
-
Assist in year-end review engagements
-
Assist in continuous improvement activities, from idea generation to implementation
IDEAL CANDIDATE

be a team player, self-motivated, efficient and reliable

be highly organized and enjoy managing multiple tasks and responsibilities with competing priorities.
Required experience/qualifications:
-
Minimum 3-4 years previous accounting experience
-
Accounting related diploma or degree
-
Experience in construction considered an asset
-
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
-
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis
-
Ability to explain financial concepts to those without a financial background
-
Proficient skills in Microsoft Office 365 and advanced knowledge of Excel
-
Experience with Acumatica considered a strong asset
-
Adaptability in the face of change and willingness to learn
-
Overtime may be required periodically
Additional requirements:

Satisfactory criminal and credit record check.
Compensation Package:
Annual Salary: $70,000-$90,000 dependent on experience
The posted salary range reflects our target base salary for this role. Most successful candidates are offered salaries near the midpoint of the range, based on their experience and qualifications.
Annual Bonus: Highstreet pays an annual bonus based on company performance. A typical bonus for an Accountant is approximately 14% of annual salary. Determined annually, the bonus could be more or less depending on performance results.
Investment Opportunity: Highstreet encourages all employees to share in our success by offering the opportunity to invest in the projects we build and operate. To encourage employee investment, Highstreet matches employee investment at 50%, up to 20% of annual salary (i.e. for every $1 invested by the employee, Highstreet invests $0.50 on the employee's behalf). The investments are TFSA and RRSP eligible.
