This 115-year-old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of over $70 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15-day annual summer Fair which averages more than 700,000 people annually, Playland amusement park which welcomes 400,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, and a busy year-round portfolio of events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events. We are seeking a diligent, safety-focused and highly skilled Electrical Foreperson who has a passion for the events industry and the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE). Our Electrical Foreperson works under the directions of the Manager, Facilities & Maintenance and Manager, Event Conversions and is responsible for leading the electrical team that supports our facilities and event operations across Hastings Park including Playland but excluding ride maintenance electrical. This role is a working leader, overseeing day-to-day electrical maintenance and event support, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with BC Electrical Code, Technical Safety BC, WorkSafeBC, and PNE policies.

What will you do this year? In your role as Electrical Foreperson , your primary accountabilities will be to:

  • Lead and supervise a crew of IBEW electricians, including scheduling, daily assignments, coaching, and on-the-job support.
  • Act as the FSR A for facility electrical work within scope, ensuring all installations and maintenance meet BC Electrical Code and Technical Safety BC requirements.
  • Ensure event electrical equipment and systems are code compliant and meet worksafe BC requirements
  • FSR-A will be responsible for holding the annual Operating Permit, & may have to submit multiple Event Permits for eg. Fair, FIFA or any other large events as required
  • Must be up-to-date on BC Electrical Bulletins & Regulations
  • Oversee and perform electrical maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on building systems across multiple venues (e.g., Pacific Coliseum, Agrodome, Forum, Playland, Freedom Mobile Arch and other PNE facilities), excluding ride electrical systems.
  • Support event and conversion operations by planning and overseeing temporary power, show power and electrical set-ups/tear-downs for concerts, trade shows, sporting events, film shoots, the Fair, Playland, Fright Nights, and other special events.
  • Review event orders, drawings and production requirements; confirm electrical loads, connection points and safety considerations.
  • Ensure Preventive Maintenance (PM) tasks and corrective work are completed and accurately documented in the CMMS (e.g., Limble), including labour, materials and asset history.
  • Lead and participate in regular safety talks, hazard assessments, lockout/tagout procedures and incident reporting; promote and model a strong safety culture.
  • Coordinate work with other trades and departments (Mechanical, Carpentry, Conversions, Custodial, Playland Operations, etc.) to minimize disruption and support smooth event turnarounds.
  • Liaise with external electrical contractors and service providers; monitor their work for quality, safety and adherence to PNE standards.
  • Provide technical input into capital and renewal projects, including design reviews, electrical scopes, commissioning and handover to operations.
  • Participate in on-call and respond to after-hours emergencies as operational needs require.
  • Coordinate with external contractors when required
  • Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained in electrical rooms, shops and worksite
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

What else?

  • Must hold a valid FSR A (Field Safety Representative – Class A) in British Columbia.

  • Must be a Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician or hold an equivalent provincial Trade Qualification.

  • Minimum 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in commercial, industrial or institutional electrical work.

  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a supervisory, lead hand or foreperson capacity.

  • Strong working knowledge of:

  • BC Electrical Code and Technical Safety BC requirements

  • WorkSafeBC regulations and safe electrical work practices

  • Experience working in a complex, multi-building environment (e.g., arenas, stadiums, campuses, or large public facilities) is strongly preferred.

  • Experience in an event, entertainment, or amusement park environment is considered an asset.

  • Experience leading teams in a unionized environment (e.g., IBEW) is an asset.

  • Familiarity with CMMS software (e.g., Limble) and digital work order systems is preferred.

  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence (or equivalent), with an acceptable driving record, is required.

  • Equipment operation: scissor lift, boomlift

  • Must be comfortable working an event-based schedule, including evenings, weekends, overnights and holidays as required by operations and event calendars.

  • Candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.
