We are looking for an individual to add value to our Logistics Team. This successful candidate will be responsible for the timely coordination of all shipping and receiving duties, including the implementation of various activities that are critical to meeting the plants SQDCM (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale) objectives.
Key Roles and Responsibilities will include (not limited to):
- Follow safety procedures and comply with all related safety and security regulations. Take action to correct unsafe work habits. Operate equipment safely. Report and/or correct unsafe work conditions as appropriate.
- Maintain work areas in a neat and orderly condition in accordance with established housekeeping standards.
- Comply with the facility environmental policy and any applicable operational controls in order to meet the established environmental objectives and targets.
- Comply with the facility’s World Class Manufacturing principles in order to meet the established targets and objectives.
- Ensure accurate and timely transfer of necessary shipment documentation to truck drivers and customers.
- Print all releases and inform schedulers of their completion. Reprocess as required.
- Maintain all logbooks including Shipment; Discrete; Carrier; Intercompany; Receiving; Silo Material; Error; Customer returns
- Scan to Receive, utilizing hand scanner
- Co-ordinate schedule for all inbound loads and deliveries, including follow up with carrier companies with respect to driver problems and late trucks. Prepare audits as necessary.
- Deal with inquiries from customers about shipments or ASN’s. Answer internal questions from MIS or Materials.
- Prepare customers information and distribute as required.
- File own bills of lading, customs documents and shipping line-ups.
- Maintain and ensure accuracy of internal contractor insurance and NAFTA certificates on an annual basis.
- Maintain back-up system on PC and ensure part numbers are current.
- Receive all incoming material and discrete packing slips to computer system.
- Verify material received versus packing slips, for both raw and discrete material.
- Expedite material in when notified of possible stock out. Log excess freight to track liability.
- On discrete side, check all material, maintain log, and notify requisitioners of received material. Place stockroom and maintenance material in appropriate bins in lockup cage and maintain.
- For discrepancies on receipt of material, maintain log, notify scheduler, and fill out discrepancy report. Forward copy to Quality Specialist for processing.
- Run Receiving Audit Discrete Reports twice weekly.
- Obtain copies of discrete purchase orders on a daily basis from purchasing.
- Complete bi-annual review and update of all procedures for Shipping/Receiving to reflect current practices.
- For customer returns, issue CDR # and have product tagged appropriately.
- Accurate data entry and timely preparation of documents and reports.
- Transfer of information and Advance Shipping Notices to the customer within the required time frame.
- Deal with problems appropriately, i.e., correct and resend ASN’s if errors found, do emergency shipment on off shifts if required by customers, contact appropriate personnel about problems such as power failure, phone lines down, unexplained ASN errors.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Secondary school diploma.
- Computer and keyboarding skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Good communication and inter-personal skills.
- Familiarity with an office and warehouse environment an asset.
- Valid Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as required by the customer.
- Superior problem-solving skills.
