**Job Title:**Millwright
**Reports to:**Manager, Facilities Performance
**Type:**Permanent, Full Time

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities Performance and working under the guidance of the Supervisor, Building Mechanical and Airport Operational Systems, the Millwright plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of critical airport equipment at Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport.
The Millwright is responsible for hands-on repair, maintenance, rebuilding, overhauls, fabrication, and installation of industrial machinery and building systems. This includes mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems such as baggage handling equipment, passenger boarding bridges, mechanical and hydraulic door systems, and various other building mechanical systems.
A key focus of the role is monitoring and assessing equipment performance to detect issues early, prevent failures, and recommend effective, practical solutions. The Millwright works collaboratively with other maintenance team members to complete assigned tasks within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) environment, supporting timely, accurate, and proactive maintenance operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform predictive and preventative maintenance on airport equipment and systems, including inspections, lubrication, calibration, and replacement of worn components to ensure reliability and prevent failures
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems, responding to equipment failures in a timely and effective manner to support continuous airport operations
- Install, assemble, rebuild, and modify industrial machinery and building systems, including interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, aligning equipment, and fabricating components as required
- Monitor equipment performance and assess asset condition, identifying potential issues early and recommending practical, cost-effective solutions to maintain operational integrity
- Complete all required documentation within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including work orders, maintenance records, and parts usage, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and asset tracking
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements, including participation in safety briefings, application of safe work procedures (e.g., lockout/tagout, confined space), and maintaining a safe work environment
- Collaborate with maintenance team members, operations staff, contractors, and vendors to coordinate work activities and ensure timely completion of tasks
- Provide technical guidance and support to apprentices and junior team members, contributing to skill development and a collaborative, safety-focused team environment
- Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring issues, gaps in processes or documentation, and opportunities to enhance maintenance practices and system reliability
- Ability to participate in shift schedules, standby, or emergency call outs as required to support 24/7 airport operations
Selection Criteria include:
- Red Seal Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) certification
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in large industrial or commercial facilities
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical systems, including conveyors, overhead doors, and industrial equipment
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and fabricate components in time-sensitive environments
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
- Experience working with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Strong understanding of safe work practices, including lockout/tagout, confined space, and fall protection procedures
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DA/AVOP
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, working at heights, and in confined spaces
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
