The Landfill and Compost Facility is located near Ryley, AB, a short commute from the east side of Edmonton and we are expanding with a Waste Transfer Station in West Edmonton.

The landfill has been in operation since 1992 to service the waste management needs of communities within Beaver County, Alberta. The size and complexity of their operations have grown since that time, and now Claystone is a western Canadian leader in waste management servicing a diverse range of municipal and industrial customers.

We are searching for an IT COORDINATOR to join the team at Claystone. This is a hybrid role requiring time in Edmonton and in Ryley, AB as needed.

Position Summary
Claystone is seeking an IT Coordinator to keep our technology running smoothly and securely. In this role, you’ll manage our hardware and software systems, provide hands-on support to staff, and coordinate with third-party IT providers.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain and support all technology infrastructure.
- Provide day-to-day technical support to staff.
- Act as liaison with external IT service providers.
- Implement solutions to improve security and efficiency.
- Manage vendor relationships, upgrades, and backups to ensure business continuity.
Responsibilities and Activities
Technical Support & Systems
- Provide IT support for computers, mobile devices, ERP, and specialized waste management software.
- Maintain and troubleshoot networks across multiple locations.
- Liaise with staff and third-party IT providers.
- Manage backups, data security, and user access.
- Support operational systems (scale, fleet, HR/payroll, CRM, route optimization, and AI initiatives).
Asset Management
- Oversee software and hardware asset management policies and processes.
- Manage hardware lifecycle: procurement, replacement, disposal, and inventory control.
- Coordinate with vendors for equipment procurement and maintenance.
- Track software licensing, maintenance contracts, and mobile network transitions.
- Report asset KPIs to senior leadership.
System Administration & Security
- Monitor system performance and schedule preventive maintenance.
- Support cybersecurity and risk management training for staff and vendors.
- Assist with cloud archiving, document management, and system integrations.
Operational Support
- Provide on-site tech support at all Claystone locations.
- Support scale house operations, fleet, equipment, and infrastructure systems.
- Develop and deliver IT training and reference materials; document processes and configurations.
Project & Strategic Management
- Contribute to the IT Strategic Plan and Roadmap.
- Manage IT projects, system upgrades, and new tech implementations.
- Develop IT budgets, cost projections, and device evaluation/selection processes.
- Research and recommend new technologies; monitor KPIs, schedules, and budgets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience/certifications).
- Industry certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, etc.) preferred.
- Experience with network troubleshooting, infrastructure management, and cloud services (Microsoft 365/Azure).
- Knowledge of database management, reporting tools, ERP systems, and IT asset management platforms.
- Familiarity with MDM solutions, Microsoft Power Automate, and automation tools an asset.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with discretion and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and handle confidential matters.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
Preferred Experience
- Waste industry, fleet management, or GPS tracking systems.
- Environmental compliance software, industrial networking, or SCADA systems.
Education and Experience
Formal Education: Undergraduate degree
Minimum Experience: 3-5 Years
