Join the City of Owen Sound team as an Arena Attendant. Contribute to the daily maintenance and cleanliness of our recreation facilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for all users. This position requires dedication to upholding high standards of safety and customer service, and the ability to operate an ice resurfacer (Zamboni and Olympia). The position is expected to work one to two shifts per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily cleaning and general maintenance of two recreation facilities.
- Perform daily maintenance and repair tasks, including janitorial duties in areas such as dressing rooms, bathrooms, change rooms, halls, and public spaces (toilets, sinks, mirrors, and viewing areas).
- Perform ice maintenance, including operation of the ice resurfacers (Zamboni and Olympia).
- Assist with refrigeration plant operation, general building maintenance, and provide guidance to Arena Labourers on shift
- Provide exceptional customer service to facility patrons.
- Follow and enforce health and safety protocols.
Qualifications:

Experience:
-
Previous experience in facility maintenance, particularly in municipal or public settings, is an asset.

Experience operating ice resurfacers (Zamboni and Olympia) is required.

Certifications:
-
Standard First Aid, CPR, WHMIS, Fire Extinguisher training (or willingness to obtain).

Core Competencies:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Independent work management with attention to detail

Knowledge of facility operation regulations and compliance

Valid Class “G” driver’s license
-
Basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical skills (an asset)

Proficient in time management and adaptable to varied tasks

Operate equipment such as pick-up trucks, automatic floor scrubbers, carpentry tools, power tools, janitorial equipment, generators, and pumps.
Salary Range: $23.18- $28.26 hourly, $30.57 hourly when working as an Acting Operator
