What is the Opportunity?
As the Senior Data Product Manager of the Eagle Data Squad at RBC Global Asset Management (GAM), you will lead the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the data processes within the Eagle application. This role is critical in delivering high-quality, scalable, and innovative solutions that align with RBC GAM's strategic priorities. Acting as a key liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, you will foster collaboration and ensure the successful execution of initiatives centered on the application.
In partnership with the application vendor, BNY, you will work to harness new functionalities and optimize the Eagle application, unlocking its full potential to support business objectives. By guiding the Eagle Data Squad, you will drive operational efficiency, enable data-driven decision-making, and advance the organization’s long-term data strategy. Your leadership will be instrumental in delivering reliable solutions, ensuring system stability, and planning for future enhancements to meet evolving business needs.
What Will You Do?
Strategic Planning and Roadmap Execution:
- Define and execute a long-term data platform strategy, aligning solutions with organizational goals.
- Develop and maintain a technical roadmap for future enhancements, identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement of the Eagle application.
Development, Delivery and Maintenance of Data Solutions:
- Design and implement custom solutions for managing data inflows and outflows, ensuring scalability, accuracy, and reusability.
- Build robust monitoring tools to ensure the reliability and performance of the Eagle application and related processes.
- Take ownership of BNY solutions passed to RBC, ensuring they meet standards and integrate effectively.
System Upgrades and Issue Resolution:
- Oversee testing, review, and implementation of application upgrades to ensure seamless transitions with minimal disruption.
- Serve as the escalation point for development and technical issues, driving timely resolutions.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Execution:
- Build collaborative relationships across teams to gather, translate, and prioritize business requirements into actionable data product backlogs.
- Lead Agile squad to deliver measurable business value, balancing short-term needs with long-term goals.
- Drive change management by enabling new data workflows through data product creation and adoption across the organization.
Governance, Ownership, and Best Practices:
- Oversee code management, data quality, and governance practices, promoting consistency, accountability, and technical excellence.
- Define and monitor data quality metrics, SLAs, and KPIs to ensure reliability and resolve issues proactively.
What Do You Need to Succeed (Must-Haves)?
- Familiarity with Data Management Platforms Ideally Eagle
- A proven track record as a product manager, with 5+ years of experience.
- Deep understanding of product management principles and best practices, with the ability to apply them effectively in an Agile environment.
- A passion for delivering high impact data project initiatives.
- Strong collaboration and change management skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical milestones and success criteria.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to interface effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with SQL and Python
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience in asset management or financial services.
- Familiarity with relevant tools and software, such as JIRA, Confluence, MS Project, Mural, Visio, PowerPoint, Tableau, etc.
