Engineering Team Lead - Stations Maintenance
Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Revelstoke Generating Station
Employment type: Permanent Region: Southern Interior
Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Resident
Annual salary: $ 127,900.00 - 161,800.00
What you'll do
- Leads and manages a team of field maintenance engineers headquartered at BC Hydro generation stations.
- Ensures that team members have the required expertise and tools to complete the work with high quality, value, on
schedule, and on budget.
- Provides technical leadership, instructions, advice and guidance to team members.
- Provides technical leadership for development of maintenance programs and maintenance instructions.
- Provides safety leadership and advocates Life Saving Rules and Just Culture.
- Actively supports a safe, diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace.
- Investigates and analyzes challenging or unusual technical problems; develops alternatives; evaluates risks; and provides
a summary of alternatives.
- Assists in the development of business objectives, quality assurance standards, customer needs, and performance
measurements, and assists in managing the technical and operational performance of the team to meet objectives.
- Recruits, trains, and develops employees. Appraises staff performance and provides regular feedback in order to maintain
and improve required technical expertise. Facilitates the development of employee soft skills such as persuasive influence,
collaboration, and conflict resolution.
- Develops the engineering capabilities of the team and drives ongoing improvements in the planning for and execution of
work.
- Build/maintain relationships with peers in other business units in order to improve collaboration and ensure efficient use of
resources.
- Developing user requirements and providing input to capital projects.
- Developing requirements for maintenance to be performed by BC Hydro crews and by external vendors.
- Interfacing with field managers, technical trades workers, asset managers, design engineers, project managers, and
construction managers.
- The position involves remote management of maintenance engineers located at multiple headquarters. Travel will be
required and may average approximately one week per month.
What you bring
- A recognized engineering degree in mechanical, electrical, or other field of engineering relevant to BC Hydro work.
- Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer or Limited Licensee with Engineers and Geoscientists
BC (EGBC).
- A minimum of ten (10) years of engineering work experience.
- Engineering knowledge and experience in some or all of the following will be considered an asset: power generation,
spare parts strategy, reliability centered maintenance, maintenance program optimization, equipment health assessments,
forced outage investigations, and failure analysis.
- Conflict management, leadership, communication, team building, coaching/mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and business planning skills.
- Proven ability to deliver in a matrix organization.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with consultants, vendors, and contractors, and other parts
of BC Hydro.
- Successful, creative, and persistent approach to influencing outcomes and meeting objectives.
- Excellent organizational and management skills.
