About the role

Join our Maintenance team as a Mechanic. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing mechanical systems in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment.

Key activities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair:
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair high-speed machinery and manufacturing equipment.

Perform equipment changeovers and production line setups.

Conduct preventive maintenance per established schedules and procedures.

Replace worn or defective parts and document usage.

Quickly identify and resolve equipment malfunctions.

Complete work orders and maintain accurate maintenance logs.

Mechanical & System Work:
Assemble, install, and overhaul machinery and equipment.

Rebuild and fabricate mechanical components.

Adjust, repair, or replace hydraulic and pneumatic system parts.

Align, synchronize, and configure system components to meet production specs (e.g., coding, packaging, wrapping).

Read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and manuals.

Recommend improvements to equipment and maintenance procedures.

Facility & Compliance:
Perform building maintenance tasks and ensure a clean, safe work environment.

Comply with all applicable laws and standards, including OHSA, GMP, Food Safety, and Environmental Protection.

Required training and experience

High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Completion of a technical training course in a related field from a recognized college or institution.

Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in facility maintenance, preferably in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.

Forklift operation experience is required.

Proficient in the use of hand tools and small power tools for minor repairs.

Working knowledge of cutting and welding equipment.

Skills sought

Fluent in both spoken and written English.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to read and understand procedures, analyze product information, and accurately complete reports.

Ability to analyze and interpret technical information.

Familiarity with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) as it pertains to equipment operation.

Consistently prioritizes safety in all tasks and work environments.

Demonstrates sound judgment and appropriate response in various situations.

Strong record of attendance and punctuality.

Self-motivated with a high level of attention to detail.

Able to work effectively under pressure and manage stress in a fast-paced environment.

Willingness to be cross-trained in other maintenance functions.

Exhibits a strong work ethic and a cooperative attitude across departments.

Works well independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Good mathematical aptitude.

Specific conditions regarding the position:
Physically capable of lifting and moving heavy items, including loading salt into brine tanks.

Comfortable working at heights up to 40 feet using safety cages or single-man lifts.

Flexible to work rotational shifts and weekends based on operational needs.

Successful completion of the 90-day familiarization period.

Successful completion of the progressive skills report.

Successful completion of a cognitive assessment as part of the selection process.
