Cognizant is seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer to join our Azure Cloud and Multi-cloud delivery team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in Azure infrastructure and DevOps practices, with strong knowledge of Azure services and networking. This role requires hands‑on experience in diagnosing and debugging complex solutions, driving critical incident (P1) calls independently, and communicating authoritatively with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Azure Infrastructure & Service Management
• Design, deploy, and manage Azure infrastructure solutions with a focus on scalability, performance, and security.
• Work extensively with Azure App Services, Azure Front Door, and Azure Networking components.
• Ensure high availability and resilience of applications across cloud environments.
• DevOps & Automation
• Build and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines using YAML templates.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform for consistent and automated deployments.
• Drive automation initiatives to streamline infrastructure provisioning and application delivery.
• Incident & Problem Management
• Lead and drive P1 incident calls independently, ensuring rapid resolution and clear communication with stakeholders.
• Diagnose and debug complex infrastructure and application issues across Azure services.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
• Collaboration & Agile Delivery
• Work on user stories and projects within Agile frameworks.
• Create and refine user stories for the team, ensuring clarity and alignment with business goals.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including developers, architects, and service delivery managers.
• Communication & Leadership
• Act as a trusted advisor and authoritative communicator with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Document processes, solutions, and lessons learned for knowledge retention.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive best practices across the team.

Qualifications

• Primary Skills:
• Expertise in Azure Infrastructure and Azure DevOps.
• Secondary Skills:
• Strong knowledge of Azure Networking.
• Technical Experience:
• Azure App Services, Azure Front Door, Terraform, YAML pipelines.
• Broad knowledge of Azure services and their integration.
• Incident Management:
• Proven ability to lead and resolve P1 incidents independently.
• Soft Skills:
• Very strong communication skills with an authoritative presence.
• Ability to work under pressure and drive outcomes effectively.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a remote opportunity based in Canada. The base salary for this position ranges between $94,000 and $110,500. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
