Salary: $624 biweekly
Term: June 2026 to April 2027
About the Position: The Manitoban is the official students’ newspaper of the University of Manitoba. The Digital Media Editor is responsible for developing the online presence of the Manitoban, including across social media and on our website. This is done in collaboration with other editorial staff and associates. Regular duties include attending weekly meetings on Monday and Wednesday evenings, and maintaining The Manitoban’s digital presence throughout the week.
Responsibilities include: reading all articles published each issue in order to write social media captions for all articles and additional posts for all platforms; working with the copy team and other editors to continually improve quality, accuracy and engagement; promoting podcasts and videos on social media and planning and implementing additional strategies, initiatives and opportunities to grow social media presence, engagement and following.
Qualifications: The ideal candidate has previous experience in social media account management, copy editing, and in project management. A close attention to detail is an asset in this role. The ideal candidate could also have experience in web design and working with social media analytics, and would have a vision for the digital presence of the paper.

The Manitoban has been reporting on University of Manitoba student news since 1914. It is published monthly during the summer and each week of regular classes during the academic year by the Manitoban Newspaper Publications Corporation.
The Manitoban is an independent and democratic student organization, open to participation from all students. It exists to serve its readers as students and citizens.
The newspaper’s primary mandate is to report fairly and objectively on issues and events of importance and interest to the students of the University of Manitoba, to provide an open forum for the free expression and exchange of opinions and ideas, and to stimulate meaningful debate on issues that affect or would otherwise be of interest to the student body and/or society in general. The Manitoban serves as a training ground for students interested in any aspect of journalism.
