SALARY RANGE: Starting at $57,222.00 Per Annum
POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Temporary (2-Year Term)
LOCATION: Saskatchewan
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Director of Infrastructure and/or designate
Brief Overview:
Under the direction of the Director of Infrastructure and/or designate, the MN S Operations & Maintenance Technician will support the growth of the Métis Nation–Saskatchewan in the operation and maintenance of its operated properties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in operations, maintenance, and repair services at all MN-S-operated properties as directed.
- Adhere to the property management framework.
- Collaborate with the Ministry of Housing to prioritize housing maintenance within the workload.
- Address tenant inquiries, concerns, and requests.
- Provide support during and leading up to Back to Batoche Days (i.e.: attending committee meetings, oversight of grounds maintenance, water testing, maintenance calls, potable and wastewater services, etc.).
- Advise on measures to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of all facilities.
- Conduct minor maintenance as required (i.e.: furnace filters, minor leaks, clogged lines, wall repairs, changing door locks, cutting grass, snow removal, vehicle, and equipment maintenance, etc.).
- Ensure that facilities meet health and safety standards.
- Ensure that MN-S equipment, including fleet vehicles, are maintained and operated according to the fleet management policy.
- Assist with facility rentals and special events to ensure that the terms of rental agreements are met.
- Establish and maintain relationships with contractors, vendors and service providers.
- Assist with the planning and administration of contracts for services such as renovations, cleaning, maintenance, parking, safety inspections, and security systems.
- Ensure that all site and maintenance inquiries are responded to in a timely manner.
- Work in conjunction with Housing & Infrastructure staff to develop and implement schedules and procedures for safety inspections and preventative maintenance programs.
- Follow all operations and maintenance budgets.
- Prepare reports related to areas of responsibility.
- Serve as first point of contact for security services after hours in the absence of the Property Supervisor/Coordinator assigned to that file.
- Work with Infrastructure staff to coordinate the training and supervision of staff as required.
- Work with MN-S property management software to input and manage data (work orders, invoices etc.).
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years related experience in building maintenance and/or property management.
- Skilled trades Journeyperson or Building Systems Technician certificate or equivalent experience.
- Training in building science, home inspections, building operations maintenance or home maintenance is considered an asset.
- Training in OH&S and construction related safety is considered an asset.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of mechanical building systems (HVAC, heating, electrical, water and wastewater systems, sprinklers, etc.).
- Knowledge of building envelopes (roofs, windows, concrete, and brick walls, etc.).
- Knowledge of ground maintenance.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operations and maintenance.
- Knowledge of Métis culture.
- Demonstrate a commitment to a diverse, culturally competent, and culturally safe work environment and representative workforce.
- Proven experience in a similar role.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to prioritize workload independently.
- Work well independently and as a team.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work from heights.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365.

- Valid Saskatchewan driver’s license and access reliable transportation
- Must be willing to travel across Saskatchwan
- Must undergo a Criminal Record Check with the Vulnerable Sector
