The Production Engineering Technologist ensures the smooth transition of products into manufacturing while upholding BASE Engineering’s uncompromising quality standards. This role is critical in supporting our commitment to delivering high-quality products that meet and exceed customer expectations.
Working closely with Engineering, Quality Management, and Production teams, the Production Engineering Technologist will implement engineering changes, resolve production challenges, and maintain accurate system data. Success in this role requires strong technical skills, proactive problem-solving, and a detail-oriented mindset, while focused on enabling efficient production and ensuring every product reflects BASE Engineering’s quality promise.
Responsibilities include:

Perform electronic troubleshooting and develop testing procedures to verify product functionality and ensure quality.

Design and implement test jigs and equipment to support consistent product performance and quality assurance.

Review system drawings for accuracy and completeness, ensuring alignment with engineering and production standards.

Maintain and update procedural documentation, including assembly instructions and testing protocols, to reflect current practices.

Facilitate the seamless integration of design changes into production, minimizing disruption and ensuring cross-functional readiness.

Design custom systems for clients, leveraging existing products to meet unique customer requirements.

Act as the primary contact for suppliers, resolving product-related inquiries and quality concerns efficiently.

Collaborate with the Quality Manager to uphold product and process standards and drive continuous improvement.

Support and mentor production technicians and technical support staff, fostering skill development and operational excellence.

Provide technical guidance to internal teams, ensuring clarity and alignment on production processes and improvements.

Identify and implement process enhancements to increase productivity, reduce waste, and elevate product quality.
Required Qualifications

Diploma in Electronic Engineering Technology or equivalent technical education
-
Proven experience in engineering and troubleshooting of electromechanical systems
-
Strong understanding of electrical and electronic schematics
-
Working knowledge of CAD software for mechanical and electrical design integration

Experience with soldering
Assets:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
-
Experience with products destined for harsh environments (temperature, vibration, moisture, dust)
-
Familiarity with Microchip products and platforms
-
Proficiency in programming embedded firmware using C language
-
Knowledge of ATEX/IECEx certification process
Work Arrangement : Onsite
Pay Range: $60,000 - $70,000 (CAD) annually
[Bonus Eligible: This position is eligible to earn a discretionary bonus based on performance metrics up to 20% of base salary.
