Job Description:

Position Purpose summary:

The Office Finance Assistant provides support during the Christmas season on a temporary basis.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide oversight for the Christmas Kettle donations to ensure accuracy and policy compliance.
  • Will participate in recruitment of volunteer(s) for counting of donations
  • Daily pick up of kettles from sites, ensuring the security of donations in Ministry Unit safe and following safe keeping procedures
  • All donations will be stored in the church safe until it can be counted by incumbent and Corps Officer or designate for security and stewardship.
  • Create inventory log of safe contents per policy
  • Cash donations will be placed in a locked cash box and stored within the safe; all other items should be sealed in tamper proof bags (deposit bags)
  • Maintain Tip Tap donation tracking and records.
  • May prepare donation letters and thank you letters for donations.
  • Track fundraising progress and record statistical data in a clear, organized and accurate manner
  • Complete bank deposits Monday - Friday
  • Perform other related duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This is a temporary part-time position based on 22 hours per week.
  • Shifts may include days, afternoons, and evening shifts, Monday through Saturday, flexibility in scheduling is required.
  • The Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule.
  • The working environment is typically in the office in generally agreeable conditions.
  • Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 10 lbs. (4.5 kgs) in a safe manner.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Completed High School.
  • Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, with own vehicle and insurance; may claim mileage as per Salvation Army policy

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

  • A minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset.
  • Strong skills in all Microsoft Office products, WORD and EXCEL, with good working knowledge and experience with email and internet-based programs
  • Money handling experience is an asset.

  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
  • Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $17.60 to $20.64 with a maximum of $24.77.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
