The Opportunity

We are looking for an accomplished Finance Business Product Owner to join our Finance team and report to our Head of Financial Reporting as part of our financial services business in Montreal.

Role overview:

Product managers determine and oversee delivery of the strategy and roadmap for their products to achieve business outcomes and financial objectives. Their responsibilities include coordinating with IT, business, and financial stakeholders to set priorities, managing new development and operations, and providing direction and oversight to product teams. This role will sit within the MFS Finance team.

As part of our Montreal team, you will:

  • Understand business needs, practices, and processes to inform product development, priorities and improvement recommendations
  • Lead product strategy, planning, and lifecycle management efforts to align with overall finance and business strategy and work closely with IT Product Owners in this regard in mutual collaboration
  • Collaborate with IT and vendors to translate business requirements into actionable product and technical requirements, lead release plans for delivery
  • Manage implementation of new products (from Finance side), working with global finance teams around timetables, access, testing etc.
  • Manage feedback loop of outstanding issues and work with technical teams to resolve
  • Manage / track KPIs around product suitability and adoption, in particular cost / benefit tracking
  • Act as business partner on large Technology Transformation programs to ensure all elements are functional and fit for purpose on go live
  • Act as Business Partner with Data Management team to ensure that reporting implications resulting from Technology Transformation programs are effectively managed
  • Manage ongoing requirements for Iridium / SSRS reporting / Data warehouse use

What You Bring

In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:

  • completed an internationally recognised accounting or financial industry designation (e.g., CPA, CA or ACA); and/or secondary specialization in projects/technology/computer science
  • a minimum of eight years post-qualified experience, relevant industry experience with a leading professional company
  • minimum 5 years of progressive experience managing financial systems, with a focus on project implementation, strategic planning, and driving operational efficiency
  • Strong knowledge of financial operations with proven analytical and problem-solving skills enabling translation of business needs into technical solutions that enhance system capabilities
  • experience working in and with different jurisdictions
  • knowledge of Finance business concepts, such as, month-end close processes, budgeting and planning, general ledger, treasury, accounts payable and account receivables, fixed assets, project accounting
  • excellent time management, interpersonal and communication skills
  • be a self-starter with the ability to pro-actively manage upcoming deliverables independently whilst ensuring his/her team members do the same
  • advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, VBA, Power BI, and Cube reporting
