Social Worker (Mental Health Services - Child & Adolescent Outpatient MH)
About the role
Overview As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Social Worker has primary therapist responsibilities providing assessment and brief, crisis-oriented psychotherapy to children, adolescents and their families in the inpatient unit and the day program. The Social Worker participates in all aspects of program planning, treatment and discharge.
EDUCATION
- Master of Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work, or equivalent degree, as recognized by the College of Registered Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
- Must be a member of the College of Registered Social Workers and Social Service Workers, or be a candidate for certification.
Qualifications
- 5 years recent experience working within child and adolescent mental health family care.
- Experience with children and adolescents in an acute crisis and\or suffering from a serious mental
health illness.
- Demonstrated recent experience with individual, family and group psychotherapy.
- Willingness to assist with intake and participate in the day treatment program.
- Experience with related acute / crisis interventions.
- Experience working with children and adolescents with histories of severetrauma, abuse and or
Self-harm.
- Experience providing psychoeducation around mental illness with children and families.
- Well developed family and group work intervention skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of related legislation.
- Knowledgeof child and adolescent mental health community resources.
- Demonstrated sensitivity and competency with diverse populations.
- Good work and attendance record required.
