About the role

Are you tired of long boring drives across Canada and countless days away from home? Are you a night owl that thrives during the night? Well, I?ve got a career that might pique your interest!

A night in the life of a Class 1 Driver? You?ll sleep during the day and be fresh and alert for your night shift. You?ll pre-trip your truck and do some trips up and down the Island. You might do a delivery here or there. After your 9-hour shift, you might be staying late for some extra overtime. Otherwise, fuel up, park your tractor, and enjoy the rest of your day!

The schedule is Tuesday - Saturday with a 3:00 AM start.

Responsibilities

  • General P&D activities such as: safe driving, related paperwork, customer service
  • BC ferries and Seaspan barge moves throughout the evening
  • Trailer shunting throughout the yard
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with Night Warehouse supervisor and manager
  • Report all incidents and safety hazards in a timely manner to the supervisor or manager
  • Safely operate and drive heavy trucks to transport food products between designated locations.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies during transportation.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues that arise.

Requirements

  • Valid commercial driver's license (Class 1 or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
  • Experience in commercial driving, particularly in the transportation of freight or food products.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations related to trucking and logistics.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
