Patient Care Assistant – Float Pool

POSITION LOCATION: OWEN SOUND (& ASSIGNMENT TO RURAL SITES)
UNION AFFILIATION: OPSEU – SERVICE
STATUS: FULL-TIME
WAGE RATE: $29.276 – $30.346
Under the guidance of an RN and RPN, the Personal Care Assistant (PCA) will assist with routine activities of patient care within the agreed upon plan of care. The PCA promotes an environment that is optimal for the physical, social and emotional well-being of our patients.
While the successful candidate will have the option to select 2 preferred sites, it is understood that travel may be required to all sites in the corporation.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Certificate of Completion of the Personal Support Worker Program from a recognized Community College or a combination of relevant experience and education preferably from an acute care facility.
- Current CPR
- Recent experience as a in a healthcare facility
- Successful completion of corporate Code White training (to be provided)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Infection Control Practices
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent organizational and patient assessment skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to continuing education and professional development
- Ability to work all shifts
- Access to reliable transportation as travel to rural hospitals is required based on staffing needs
- Recent satisfactory attendance and performance records
- Knowledge of and adherence to Brightshores ‘CARE’ Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence)
- Advocates and supports a culture of patient safety and demonstrates an understanding of how the department service and assigned responsibilities contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores through patient safety knowledge, skills and attitudes
