Our client is seeking a Senior Finance Analyst (CPA) to join their finance team in a highly visible role reporting directly to the Director of Finance. This position is focused on business partnering, financial analysis, forecasting, profitability improvement, and supporting operational and strategic decision-making across the organization.
Principal tasks and responsibilities include
- Partner with sales, operations, and leadership teams to identify opportunities to improve revenue, gross margins, profitability, and overall business performance.
- Analyze sales performance, customer profitability, product margins, pricing strategies, and business trends to provide actionable recommendations.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reporting packages including variance analysis, profitability reporting, and KPI dashboards.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities while working closely with operational leaders.
- Develop financial models, scenario analysis, and business cases to support strategic initiatives, capital investments, pricing decisions, and growth opportunities.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators including revenue growth, gross margin, operating efficiency, inventory performance, and working capital metrics.
- Perform product costing, labour analysis, pricing analysis, and inventory analysis to support business decision-making.
- Translate financial and operational data into meaningful insights and recommendations for senior leadership.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, business processes, systems, and financial visibility across the organization.
- Support strategic projects focused on growth, process improvement, operational efficiency, and profitability enhancement.
- Assist with month-end reporting, reconciliations, and accounting activities as required.
- Build strong working relationships across Canadian and U.S. operations and serve as a trusted business partner to key stakeholders.
Qualifications and pre-requisites
- CPA designation required or nearing completion.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in FP&A, financial analysis, business analysis, management reporting, or commercial finance.
- Strong experience supporting operational and commercial decision-making through financial analysis and business insights.
- Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling, forecasting, scenario analysis, and data analysis.
- Experience using Power BI and large ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis, KPI reporting, and business performance measurement.
- Experience presenting financial information and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Experience within distribution, manufacturing, wholesale, consumer products, or other product-based environments is highly preferred.
- Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, and business partnering skills.
- Ability to operate independently within an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment.
