As a valued member of the Engineering and I.T. team at Whiteoaks Communications Group Limited, your collaborative spirit and proactive approach will be key to your success. Reporting directly to the Group Director of I.T. operations and the Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining and resolving technical and I.T. issues across our broadcast operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • On-Call Support: You’ll be entrusted with 24-hour on-call responsibilities for technical emergencies, as assigned by senior management. We are committed to ensuring fair and balanced scheduling for on-call duties.
  • Flexible Hours: Flexibility in your schedule may be required to complete tasks efficiently, with hours determined by senior management.
  • Technical Operations: You’ll support all technical aspects of our broadcast facilities, including maintenance, upgrades, updates, and modifications at both studio and transmitter sites. This includes I.T. peripherals and related equipment.
  • I.T. Support: Provide assistance to support staff and work independently or alongside the Group Director of I.T. operations to address I.T. issues related to on-air systems, office computers, printers, and peripheral devices. Remote support capabilities are highly valued as we continue to build a robust facility modeled after our Oakville operation.
  • Broadcast Continuity: Ensure uninterrupted on-air status for all stations, including CKLH, CHRE, CHTZ, CKTB, CJYE, CJMR, and associated HD channels.
  • Technical Expertise: Apply your strong troubleshooting and repair skills to electronic equipment and RF transmission systems—both analog and digital. Your I.T. skills will be supported and developed under the guidance of the Group Director of I.T. operations.
  • Travel**:** Regular travel throughout the Golden Horseshoe region is required, including visits to transmitter sites for scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs. Monthly travel allowance provided for position level.
  • Adaptability: Responsibilities may evolve over time, as directed by the Director of Engineering & I.T.

Qualifications:

  • A diploma or degree in electronics, complemented by strong computer and I.T. skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with broadcast systems.
  • Familiarity with Wide Orbit systems, traffic systems, analog/digital audio, and RF transmission systems is highly beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive both independently and within a dynamic team environment.
  • Detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to prioritize work in response to urgent changing needs.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving abstract.
