About the role:
The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Patient and Family Centred Care (PFCC)
is the provision of care that is respectful of, and responsive to individual patient/family preferences, needs, and values
and ensures that those values guide all decisions. Creating a caring environment for patients and families ensures
continuity of care and fosters a learning environment. Applicants are required to have a demonstrated knowledge,
understanding and commitment to this care philosophy.
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Housekeeping, the porter provides safe, efficient transportation of
patients and MDRD equipment or supplies within the Health Sciences Centre.
Qualifications:
* Grade 12 education or an equivalent combination of education and experience
* Related experience in a health care setting
* Previous customer service experience in a clinical setting
* Excellent communication and team work skills, and a proven eagerness to be part of a team
* Proven ability to perform well in an organized, efficient, and independent manner and the ability to work under
pressure
* Demonstrated knowledge of "Teletracking"
* Working knowledge of computer software and electronic devices
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Excellent interpersonal/people skills (patient and family centred philosophy of care)
* Ability to work with minimal supervision
* Fluent in English
* Flexible in related duties
* Must be physically able to perform the essential duties of the job (ie. Heavy lifting and extensive walking).
Salary Range: $26.313 to 26.764
