About Us

The Executive Council Office (ECO) provides central leadership to achieve government priorities and support for executive leadership. It supports the Premier, Executive Council and its committees in decision-making and strategic priority setting by providing policy, legal, communications, and labour relations advice. Key responsibilities of ECO include communicating government priorities and actions, developing and advancing corporate priorities and strategic plans, monitoring progress toward government objectives, facilitating government’s decision-making process through support to the Executive Council, reviewing all regulatory and legislative proposals to guide the development or amendment of government policy and providing centralized support for the appointments and governance of agencies, boards, and commissions.

About Our Opportunity

As the Finance and Marketing Coordinator, you will be a key contributor to the Corporate Services division, to support financial administration and recovery of corporate communications and research projects, budgeting and financial administration, project tracking, and modernization initiatives across ECO. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across finance, marketing, and operations helping to streamline processes and enhance service delivery.

You’ll collaborate with teams across ECO and with client departments to manage financial transactions, pay and recover marketing and advertising expenditures, and support strategic projects that improve efficiency and transparency. Your work will assist ECO in resource management and service delivery to government and the public.

Primary Accountabilities

In this role you will:

  • Manage financial recovery for marketing, advertising, and research projects.
  • Support ECO’s budgeting and forecasting processes, including monthly reporting, expenditure reviews, and compliance with financial policies.
  • Lead and contribute to modernization initiatives across corporate services and communications, including facility management, the Gift Bank, and internal administrative functions.
  • Provide financial and operational support to project teams, including procurement coordination, milestone tracking, and training development.
  • Offer backup support to the Corporate Services and Communications teams during peak periods or staff absences.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A post-secondary degree in business, finance, or a related field, and relevant experience in financial coordination, budgeting, or project support. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities, with a collaborative approach to working across teams.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Office Suite, and SharePoint.

These qualifications and competencies will be assessed through one or more of the following: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentation, interview(s), and reference checks.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. This could include experience gained through progressively responsible roles, relevant certifications, or formal training that demonstrates readiness for the responsibilities of this position. Working Conditions

This position is based in a comfortable office environment in Halifax. Standard hours of work are 35 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

Salary Range:_** ** _$2,335.21 - $2,919.02 Bi-Weekly
