The Sustainability and ESG Reporting Analyst is tasked with leading all of our reporting activities, including spearheading the planning and execution for our annual Sustainability Report as well as supporting the Sustainability Enterprise Team in shaping advocacy initiatives relating to sustainability matters.
This role reports to the Head, Sustainability and ESG Strategy and is part of TMX’s Legal and Corporate Affairs (LCA) group.
This role is hybrid (2 - 3 days/week in the Calgary office) Note: we are also open to candidates being located in one of our other Canadian office locations: Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal Key Accountabilities: ESG Reporting Carry out the ESG reporting and disclosure processes, including TMX’s annual sustainability report.
- Coordinate end-to end efforts across a cross-functional team of subject matter experts from legal, HR, enterprise risk, finance and the business functions
- Drive the collection of TMX’s annual carbon footprint and sustainability data, including data validation; manage the ESG data collection platforms, tools and metrics database
- Review process annually with internal and external collaborators to identify process improvements to be integrated in the following annual exercise
- Stay abreast of evolving industry trends and best practices and conduct periodic peer benchmarking to evaluate the organization's progress in sustainability reporting matters to inform our strategy and action plans
- Support TMX’s alignment with developing regulatory reporting standards including in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. and engage with internal stakeholders to prepare TMX for these requirements as they emerge
- Support assurance processes with internal audit and third party consultants
ESG Ratings and Rankings
- Manage responses to sustainability rating survey requests and work collaboratively across different functions to ensure timely and appropriate responses to targeted surveys
- Monitor TMX’s and peers’ sustainability ratings and work with the Sustainability Enterprise Team to identify opportunities to enhance TMX’s position that is aligned with overall strategy
ESG Communications
- Draft internal reports, memos, progress updates, and employee communications to support information sharing and employee awareness on sustainability strategy implementation
- Support the communication of TMX’s ESG performance to internal stakeholders through presentations, reports, and other communication materials
- Engage with cross functional teams to establish two-way communication processes on all sustainability related issues
Sustainability Strategy
- Support the execution of TMX’s sustainability strategy, including the development of GHG emissions reduction targets and associated action plan
- Support the Head, Sustainability and ESG Strategy to inform and educate across the business, ensuring that key stakeholders understand the role that they (or their teams) play in the sustainability strategy as well as key industry trends and best practices
- Support the development of TMX’s corporate position in sustainability related consultations from domestic or global regulators, agencies, standard setters and governments
- Actively participate in working groups to share information with business leaders and corporate development team on emerging sustainability products and services
- Support TMX sustainability related events, including content development, to further TMX’s reputation as a global destination for transition finance
Must Have(s):
- CPA, CA, MSc (Environmental or Sustainability) or MBA preferred
- Strong knowledge and experience with ESG/sustainability, including reporting, rating agencies and GHG calculation
- Project management skills
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently
- Experience working with multiple stakeholders
- Strong writing and verbal presentation skills
