About the role

CLERK III – PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT (Contract Term, Temporary Full-Time – for approximately 25 months ) Located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations, West Vancouver is a vibrant community on the North Shore and home to parks, beaches, and to sports, recreation and arts amenities. Our dedicated staff deliver services, operate facilities and run the programs that enhance the well-being of our community. Responsibilities The District of West Vancouver Planning and Development Department is currently accepting applications for a contract term, temporary full-time Clerk III. We are looking for an experienced administrative support clerk who is motivated, well organized and detail oriented. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining and managing hard-copy and digital records and files in accordance with established procedures;
  • Reviewing a variety of forms and supporting data for accuracy and completeness, and conformance with departmental procedures;
  • Providing varied administrative support for numerous staff projects;
  • Providing clerical support to the public and to District departments;
  • Effectively and courteously providing information pertaining to Planning and Development regulations and policies, in response to email, telephone or counter inquiries;
  • Data entry, filing, preparing and maintaining documents and notices; and
  • Performing other related duties as required

The preferred candidate will have: completion of Grade 12, supplemented by post secondary courses in related discipline (such as planning, architecture, the social sciences) and related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

The successful candidate will have: working knowledge of modern office methods and procedures; some knowledge of digital filing and indexing methods and recordkeeping; strong ability to pay attention to detail; ability to work independently in accordance with detailed instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

The successful candidate is required to supply a police information check and a copy of their credentials.
