Job Title: Laboratory Manager (0.6 FTE)

Job Location: Vancouver, BC

Frontage is a global Contract Research Company (CRO) with the head office located in Exton, Pennsylvania, USA. Frontage has 25 sites across USA, Canada, China and Italy. The Canadian operations include two sites – one located in Vancouver and the other based in Toronto. Frontage Vancouver (formerly BRI) has been in operation for more than 25 years with service offerings in regulated and non-regulated bioanalytical (various platforms including LC/MS/MS and MSD for small and large molecules analyses), In-vitro / In-vivo Drug Metabolism & Pharmacokinetics and pharmacology. The Frontage Vancouver operation is projected to grow significantly in the next few years, especially to meet the demands of biotech and pharmaceutical companies in the Pacific Northwest region. Our facility is accredited by AAALAC and conforms to GLP standards.

This position requires teamwork and excellent oral, written communication, and strong leadership skills.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, bioanalytical chemistry, or related organic analytical chemistry, or 10 years’ experience in bioanalytical assays of small molecules with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience
  • Experience in bioanalytical assays of biotherapeutics (mAb, ADC, PDC)
  • Strong hands-on technical experience in Waters and/or Sciex LC/MS/MS and MSD platform
  • Competence in experimental in vitro and in vivo preclinicalstudy design supporting DM/PK and ADME/Tox preclinical and clinical studies
  • Knowledgeable in NCA pharmacokinetics, drug metabolism pathways and metabolite data analysis is an asset
  • Strong technical experience in problem-solving and troubleshooting bioanalytical equipment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize study project schedules
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and work ethics
  • Highly motivated team player that enjoy the fast-paced, self-learning and highly regulated environment of a CRO

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with department heads to assist in the day-to-day lab operations, especially ensuring the methods/techniques that are being employed for client studies are of high standard and quality.
  • Provide active leadership and participate in mentoring/training lab technicians/research team members to ensure high quality data are obtained for client studies.
  • Assist in the setting up and use of new instrumentation and methodologies.
  • Work closely with vendors and sample logistics team to ensure supplies are well stocked and maintained for the vivarium, bioanalytical and DMPK teams.
  • Work closely with vendors and metrology department to ensure all lab equipment is calibrated and qualified according to SOPs.
  • Perform experiments and/or assist in the proper conduct of studies by technicians, upon request.
  • Create and review technical SOPs, lab protocols, technical reports, data collection sheets and logbooks.
  • Supervise and provide support to the study teams in addressing any potential issues prior to, and during the conduct of client studies.
  • Proactively research new study designs/approaches proposed by clients, and lead efforts along with the department leaders in implementing new technologies and experiments, if needed.
  • Follow all Frontage quality assurance policies, procedures, and applicable GLP regulations / guidelines.
  • Provide input to the management to improve operation efficiency and quality.
  • Any other duties as assigned by her direct supervisor.
