Location- This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

Connecting Today is a facilitated remote visiting program that helps care home residents living with moderate to severe dementia reconnect with family and friends through guided video calls. Following foundational work in Alberta, a multi-province randomized control trial (RCT) is being launched to evaluate the program’s broader feasibility and inform a future national trial. A versatile and highly skilled Data Analyst is being sought to join the team and play a key role in supporting this work.

Reporting to the Alberta Principal Investigator (Dr. Hannah O’Rourke), the Data Analyst holds primary responsibility for data management and cleaning, leading the conduct of all quantitative analysis for the pilot multi-province cluster trial. This position provides the opportunity to apply a high level of expertise in advanced modelling techniques—such as generalized estimating equations and structural equation modeling—while methodologically justifying and communicating analytical decisions that shape the study's success.
In addition to overseeing the quantitative analysis, this role provides mixed-methods experience. The Data Analyst has the opportunity to support the qualitative analysis of interviews with on-site facilitators and remote visitors. As a core member of the team, the Data Analyst develops interim reports for the research and advisory committees and has the opportunity to contribute to scholarly presentations and manuscripts.

  • Oversight and day-to-day management of the quantitative Connecting Today study database in SPSS to ensure data integrity over the course of the study

  • Complete all quantitative data analysis arising from the Connecting Today study.

  • Prepare clear, accurate interim analysis reports for review by the research team

  • Arrange receipt of administrative data (Resident Assessment Instrument RAI data) from four care homes

  • Support the PI in qualitative data analysis (i.e., thematic analysis) of interviews, as a part of the mixed methods process evaluation, in response to questions related to intervention implementation and effects

  • Support the research team in the design of a web-based survey related to usual care, set up the web-based usual care survey in REDCap.

  • Education: Graduate degree in a health-related discipline with an emphasis on advanced statistical analysis

  • High level of proficiency in quantitative data analysis, database management, and use of analytic software (e.g. SPSS)

  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

  • Experience with REDCap

  • Awareness of approaches to qualitative data analysis and mixed methods
