Company Description Instinct Canine Training is a Burlington-based dog training facility. The organization is dedicated to helping clients build better relationships with their dogs through professional training services. Training programs are grounded in trust, respect, and positive interaction between people and dogs. Team members work with clients and their dogs in a supportive environment that prioritizes safety, clear communication, and humane training practices. Role Description The Day Train Assistant (Part-Time) supports dog training sessions and daily care activities at the Burlington, ON facility. This on-site role includes assisting trainers with handling dogs, practicing training exercises, and reinforcing skills using approved methods. The Day Train Assistant helps maintain a clean, safe training environment, prepares equipment and supplies, and supports intake and departure routines for dogs. Additional responsibilities may include monitoring dog behavior, recording training progress, and communicating observations to lead trainers. This is a part-time position with scheduled shifts during operating hours, weekday mornings from 8:00 - 11:00.

Qualifications

Experience working with dogs in a professional or volunteer setting, such as training, daycare, shelter, or grooming. Strong observational skills, with the ability to recognize stress, discomfort, and changes in dog behavior. Good physical stamina and comfort with handling dogs of various sizes and energy levels. Clear, respectful communication skills for interacting with trainers, team members, and clients. Reliable time management, punctuality, and the ability to follow established protocols and safety procedures. Willingness to learn, take feedback, and participate in ongoing training and development. Availability for part-time on-site shifts in Burlington, ON; previous experience in animal care or training is an asset.
