Position Overview
The Virtualization Pre-Sales Architect in the Modern Infrastructure practice at Arctiq serves as a key technical resource supporting sales and solution development across Western Canada. This role focuses on helping customers modernize their data centers through virtualization, hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), and hybrid cloud strategies. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in VMware, Red Hat Virtualization/OpenShift Virtualization, and Nutanix, with a solid understanding of core networking principles. Bonus points for candidates who have achieved Broadcom Knight status or possess equivalent VMware partner program expertise.
This position requires a balance of technical depth, sales acumen, and customer facing communication skills. The successful candidate will collaborate with Client Directors, vendors, and engineering teams to qualify opportunities, design scalable solutions, and deliver exceptional customer outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Identify Customer Needs

Lead customer discovery sessions to assess current virtualization and data center environments.

Understand business drivers and identify opportunities for consolidation, modernization, or cloud migration.

Translate customer requirements into actionable technical strategies aligned with Arctiq’s Modern Infrastructure portfolio.
Develop Industry Leading Solutions
-
Architect and present enterprise virtualization and HCI solutions built on VMware, Red Hat, and Nutanix platforms.

Evaluate customer infrastructure and provide right-sized designs balancing performance, scalability, and cost.

Collaborate with OEM and software vendors to validate interoperability and develop accurate Bills of Material (BOMs).

Create detailed Statements of Work (SOWs) for implementation and managed services.
-
Align solutions with security, compliance, and operational best practices.
Ensure Successful Delivery
-
Participate in project hand offs and kick off calls to ensure seamless transition from presales to delivery.
-
Support delivery teams as a trusted advisor throughout implementation.
-
Maintain strong post sale relationships to drive satisfaction and identify expansion opportunities.
Provide Thought Leadership
-
Stay current on virtualization trends, Broadcom VMware program updates, and emerging alternatives such as KVM and Red Hat Virtualization.

Educate customers on hybrid and multi-cloud strategies leveraging HCI platforms.
-
Evangelize Arctiq’s Modern Infrastructure practice through webinars, workshops, and regional partner events.
Drive Organizational Growth

Mentor junior engineers and sales teams on virtualization technologies.

Identify cross-practice opportunities in areas like cybersecurity, and platform engineering.

Provide feedback to leadership on partner programs, certifications, and service opportunities in the virtualization space.
Qualifications:
-
8+ years of experience in pre-sales architecture, solution consulting, or technical design for enterprise virtualization solutions.
-
Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere/vSAN/NSX, Nutanix AOS/AHV/Prism, and Red Hat Virtualization or OpenShift Virtualization.
-
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls).
-
Experience designing or supporting HCI, cloud migration, or data center modernization projects.
-
Strong presentation skills with ability to articulate value propositions to both technical and business audiences.
-
Relevant certifications such as VCAP/VCP, Nutanix NCP/NCM, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or Broadcom Knight designation highly desirable.

Proven ability to collaborate cross functionally with vendors, partners, and internal delivery teams.

Strong documentation and SOW development skills.
Desired Experience:

Exposure to multi-cloud integration (AWS, Azure, GCP).

Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized workloads within virtualized environments.

Experience with infrastructure automation (Ansible, Terraform).

Understanding of disaster recovery, backup, and data protection strategies in virtualized ecosystems.

Awareness of licensing, cost optimization, and VMware Broadcom program.
